Best primer for foil/laminate doors?

Working time is about 4 hrs tops but you have to watch it going off in the stock of the brush, I clean my brushes after a couple of hrs during use
Goes on very well.
Yes it is abit costly but so is the paint failing to adhere to the item your working on, plus not ideal for your reputation
I wouldn't risk using anything else in that situation

The best, most economical solution is our ESP (Easy Surface Prep)! You just need to apply, wipe off excess and leave it to dry for two hours. You then have up to 7 days to paint over it with whichever paint you wish to use.

Simple and very effective!!

Here is the link for more info: http://www.owatrol.com/index.php?langue ... oduits-esp

blimey thats different..it might be worth considering however the first drawback that comes to mind (correct me if Im wrong) I would still need to give surface an extra coat of paint to get full bodied finish adding time to the job and putting it bluntly youre selling a product not using it in everyday situations?
Dont get me wrong Ive used a couple of owatrol products without any problems I'll have a proper look at that link tomorrow but I like products that'll save me time/effort and might be a bit risking using something untried on a big job.

Any chance you could send me some samples so I can try it out?

I just had a look at a foil kitchen that I painted about 12 months ago primed it with supergrip, followed by 2 coats s/b eggshell the customer was well pleased with results and durability. They've had extended family staying for last year with kitchen in almost constant use and is still looking spot on

I might stick some floetrol in the supergrip for flow out but all things considered I think I'll stick with this tried and tested method :thumbup1:

I'm a fan of Coverstain, nice to sand back and good covering power!

Do You guys remove the doors when doing kitchen cabs?

Cheers, G

I wouldn't take the doors off normally ,unless it had a hinge like on the Mark Wilkinson Etruscan kitchen.

Mainly use the Dulux Ultra Grip on any surfaces that i am unsure of. Don't paint many kitchen units, but still paint alot of difficult surfaces.
Last year painted a laminated reception desk for a Beauty Salon. Was very unsure of it remaining intact due to the client picking a silver W/B topcoat from B&Q. (Oppulence or something of a similar name)
Stated that i was not happy to put it on as a topcoat due to not thinking it would last. Had to eat my words, have seen it since and its held up extremely well.

I know this is an old thread but i do a lot of kitchen unit painting and ESP work great on the door ....easy to use quick drying time and finnish off with two coats of paint and your out the door. Ive used it lots in the past and never had a problem ....even painting glass and aluminium with it.
Prepping is to painting what foreplay is to sex: the more attention given it, the better the results.
